Snow? In March?

We had a very strange weather phenomenon during our football training on Wednesday afternoon. We were practicing as we normally do on Wednesday, and the weather was decent. It was mostly sunny with a few dark clouds, and a bit cooler than it had been, but not too bad. It had absolutely poured rain the night before, so the pitch was quite soggy. I'd warmed up in track pants and a sweatshirt, but after about 15 minutes I was comfortable in soccer shorts and a light t-shirt.

About an hour into training though, a few white specks began falling from the sky. The drill we were in the middle of slowed down as more and more of us lost focus. We were all looking at the sky. It began to fall heavier and quicker. But nobody was really sure, was this hail or snow? It looked like a combination of the two. It came down so heavily that I was able to catch a handful in less than a minute. It didn't even feel very cold on my hand, it felt like styrofoam. And even stranger, the air temperature at the time was not very cold. Even with the snow pouring down, I didn't feel cold in my shorts and t-shirt.

Our captain yelled at us to keep playing, but nobody could focus on anything besides this odd snow. One of the strangest bits was the fact that it was still quite sunny as it poured down. It was a very surreal experience. It felt like being at Disneyland with their fake holiday snow. It blanketed the ground for a bit, but stopped coming down after about 5 minutes. Within 10 minutes it was all melted and gone, and sunny as could be. There was no indication of what had just happened.

I talked to a friend who was in his room at the time, and he said it felt like someone was playing a prank on him by dumping a bucket of fake snow from above his window. It was a very strange expereince, I cannot really describe it better than that.

Also, I haven't forgotten about the post I've promised about my classes, it's in progress and should be up soon. So stay on the lookout for that.
